Saving Earth
Let's discuss and define it, then on this subject converge.
The greed of a few is stripping her bare
but still she is willing her abundance to share.
We take all we can never giving much back,
living our lives so that we will not lack.
Killing Earth slowly and marring her beauty,
and by her not all of us are doing our duty.
We have the pleasure of mountains covered in snow,
overlooking the lush forested valleys below.
Trees in abundance and wild life too,
these things little children we should save for you.
Is it too late, can we bring a rebirth,
trying to restore all we've taken from Earth.
Will we say to our children that we did all we could?
Or just say to them our efforts weren't very good.
Even now as I sit here at my computer,
some are laying waste which serves to pollute her.
We're killing the Earth in lethal degrees.
Bringing her back, well who holds the keys?
The air and the water have become too polluted,
and if we're not careful, Earth's death sentence soon won't be commuted.
Soon we'll affect all the animals too,
and the only wildlife will be housed in the zoo.
We should do all we can to save this good Earth,
for we can never repay her for all that she's worth.
It will be hard I know, to stave off the greed,
but we should all be attending to Mother Earth's need.

It's time to stop making excuses. I think we conveniently forget that we are not the only animals on this earth - and have taken away so much natural foraging for all the other animals on this earth. We should be ashamed.

Very timely poem post. I like this, "start of Earth's funeral dirge". The signs are no longer telltale, they are happening everywhere man leaves his footprints of "greed". I hope and pray that your voice will not be another of those in the wilderness, unheard of, unattended. We all need to stop our wanton ways choking Mother Earth to her death. Nice hub.
